At times it doesn't work as great as you would hope. I also recommend either manually saving either by sleeping in a characters bed. Or you can pull up your phone and quick save from that. If neither of these methods work, then I suggest clearing any save data from your console and trying again. It's possible it was corrupted.

There are several files that start with PGTA and some number - copy those to some other folder and then add .jpg to them - you won't be able to open them with the windows preview app but IrfanView can open them.
